Director of Studies

English 1 Makassar, a leading educational institution in Makassar, South Sulawesi, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Studies to join their team. This full-time contractor position offers a salary range of IDR 8,500,000 to IDR 10,500,000.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the academic functions of the center and maintaining/improving academic quality.
• Recruiting, supporting, and developing teachers.
• Coordinating related administrative tasks, reporting to the Center Director and Academic Operations Manager.
• Managing teacher recruitment and evaluation processes.
• Providing support and assistance to teachers in areas such as lesson planning and marking.
• Conducting induction and training for teachers.
• Finalizing the teaching schedule and teaching classes as assigned.
• Arranging substitutions for absent teachers.
• Addressing complaints related to the center’s academic operations.
• Ensuring teachers prepare lesson plans and materials in advance, accurately complete attendance registers, and maintain timely and accurate lesson and homework records.
• Ensuring teachers maintain up-to-date assessment records and complete student reports and certificates.
• Conducting meetings with parents and students as required and administering placement tests when necessary.
• Planning, running, and participating in the center’s professional development program.
• Handling disciplinary procedures for teachers and assisting with marketing activities.
• Performing any other related administrative tasks that may arise.

Requirements

• Placement is available for English 1 in Manado and/or Makassar and/or Gowa.
• A 120H World TESOL/TEFL qualification is mandatory.
• A CELTA/DELTA certificate is optional, subject to terms and conditions.
• Minimum IELTS speaking score of 7.5.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects effectively.
• The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude, enjoy meeting people, and be passionate about teaching and building friendships.
• Must be organized and detail-oriented.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in management, preferably within the service industry.
• Strong people skills and demonstrated team leadership/management abilities are essential.
